Liberation Pointe Memorial
D-Day memorial in Carlisle, PA
Located at the entrance to the Army Heritage and Education Center (AHEC) in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, Liberation Pointe is a powerful memorial commemorating the Allied invasion of Normandy on June 6, 1944. The vision for this project came from Eagle Scout Christopher Adam, whose determination to honor the sacrifices made during D-Day led to one of the most compelling Eagle Scout service projects in recent memory.
Liberation Pointe features a carefully curated display that pays tribute to the five landing beaches of Normandy—Utah, Omaha, Gold, Juno, and Sword. Each element of the memorial is steeped in meaning, from the educational signage to the solemn design. During the memorial’s dedication, five World War II veterans—each of whom fought at one of the beaches—poured sand collected from their respective landing sites into the monument. It was a moment that connected history, memory, and legacy in a deeply personal way.
KBM Industries was honored to contribute their expertise in custom metal art fabrication to this extraordinary project. We fabricated the large anti-tank hedgehog that now stands at the heart of the memorial. Using authentic 1939 Czech military specifications, our team crafted the hedgehog to mirror the original steel barriers used by the Axis powers to prevent Allied landings. The piece serves not only as a historically accurate representation but also as a striking symbol of resistance and sacrifice.
The project reached completion in 2021 and was recognized nationally as the Eagle Scout Project of the Year—a distinction that speaks to both the scale of the memorial and the remarkable leadership shown by Christopher. It also reflects the strength of collaboration between veterans, volunteers, donors, and skilled craftspeople who came together to bring this vision to life.
For KBM Industries, contributing to Liberation Pointe was more than just a fabrication project—it was an opportunity to support a cause that aligns with our values of honoring service, preserving history, and delivering craftsmanship with purpose. Our team took great care in researching period-accurate specifications and ensuring the structural integrity and weather durability of the steel hedgehog, which was designed to stand as a long-lasting feature of the memorial.
Set at the threshold of a premier military history institution, Liberation Pointe welcomes visitors to AHEC with a compelling reminder of the courage, coordination, and cost of the D-Day operation. It is a space of education, reflection, and remembrance—made possible by the passion of one young man and the support of a community committed to preserving the stories of those who served.
KBM Industries is proud to have played a role in creating this enduring tribute and to support projects that elevate history through design, fabrication, and craftsmanship.
